Principal Software Engineer
Job Summary
Leading architecture and delivery in a remote full-time capacity, the Principal Software Engineer will turn business priorities into technical direction, manage cross-team initiatives, and mentor senior engineers while ensuring successful outcomes across device, app, and cloud systems.
Key responsibilities
- Set 6-12 month technical direction and manage architecture and delivery plans across multiple teams
- Lead cross-team initiatives from problem definition to launch, managing tradeoffs and resource conflicts
- Write critical-path code, build prototypes, and mentor senior engineers to enhance their technical leadership
Required qualifications
- Proven experience leading architecture and delivery at a Senior Staff or Principal level with measurable results
- Deep expertise in backend, distributed systems, and cloud technologies
- Hands-on experience with production software, including integrations and migrations
- Ability to turn ambiguity into focused plans and align technical and nontechnical partners
- Experience mentoring senior engineers and improving team performance beyond personal contributions
