Principal Software Engineer
Job Summary
To drive technical direction and system architecture, the full-time remote Principal Software Engineer will design, build, and scale core software systems, utilizing modern engineering practices and mentoring other engineers.
Key responsibilities
- Own the architecture and design of distributed systems for high-volume insurance transactions
- Lead hands-on engineering efforts, including coding, technical reviews, and system optimization across multiple programming languages
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and mentor engineers to foster a high-performing environment
Required qualifications
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, particularly in backend or platform roles
- Advanced proficiency in Java and experience with at least one additional language such as Kotlin, Python, Go, or TypeScript
- Proven experience designing and scaling distributed systems and microservice architectures
- Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs, event-driven architectures, and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent practical experience is acceptable
