Principal Software Engineer
Job Summary
To drive the development of a clinical decision support and API-driven data delivery platform, the full-time Principal Software Engineer will design, build, and operate systems that enhance clinician workflows by integrating timely clinical insights through CDS Hooks and real-time APIs in a remote setting.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of the CDS Hooks platform and associated API contracts, ensuring compliance with healthcare standards
- Collaborate cross-functionally with EMR systems and other teams to integrate CDS Hooks and maintain public-facing REST APIs for clinical data delivery
- Establish reliability metrics and SLAs for API performance, ensuring consistent quality and compliance with healthcare regulations
Required qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in designing and operating API platforms or service-oriented systems at scale
- 3+ years of experience with healthcare data integrations and interoperability standards (FHIR, HL7, etc.)
- 2+ years of hands-on experience with CDS Hooks or similar clinical decision support APIs
- Strong proficiency in modern backend programming languages (Python, Java, Go, etc.) and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP)
- Proven ability to partner effectively across engineering, product, and clinical operations teams
