Principal Software Engineer
Job Summary
Driving technical direction within the Billing Experience domain, the full-time Principal Software Engineer will design APIs, enhance user-facing systems, and collaborate across teams to improve billing services' scale and reliability in a remote environment.
Key responsibilities
- Own and manage complex billing and account management systems, including public and internal APIs
- Lead API design and evolution, setting standards for contract stability and developer experience
- Build and enhance full-stack features in Elastic Cloud consoles, improving observability and reliability of billing services
Required qualifications
- 8+ years in backend or full-stack engineering with strong skills in API design and development
- Proven experience building and maintaining developer-facing or customer-facing APIs at scale
- Solid background in cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure), including networking and deployment
- Experience with frontend technologies such as React is a plus
- Track record of mentoring engineers and leading multi-quarter projects across teams
