Principal Software Engineer
Job Summary
To support the Growth Platform team, the fully remote Principal Software Engineer will lead technical strategy and architecture for client-side systems, focusing on scalable messaging and personalization across Atlassian's product ecosystem.
Key responsibilities
- Define the long-term technical roadmap and architectural patterns for distributed backend services and client-side integrations
- Design and implement resilient microservices and clean API contracts while collaborating on React/TypeScript components
- Mentor and elevate engineering standards by coaching engineers and leading system design reviews across the organization
Required qualifications
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with a focus on client-side/frontend architecture
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
- Extensive proficiency in React, TypeScript, modern JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and modern CSS architectures
- Proven experience as a Staff/Principal Engineer or Technical Lead for large-scale SaaS applications
- Demonstrated ability to establish technical roadmaps and mentor senior engineers across multiple teams
