Principal Software Engineer
Job Summary
Leading the development and modernization of the Severe Parameter Impacts Request Engine (SPIRE), the full-time remote Principal Software Engineer will drive architectural updates, manage full-stack development, and contribute to AI-enabled capabilities while ensuring compliance with security and operational requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, testing, and deployment of SPIRE user interface components and backend Python services
- Modernize SPIRE's technical stack and perform architectural updates while troubleshooting software issues
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior developers, supporting code reviews and Agile Scrum ceremonies
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related STEM field and a minimum of 8 years of experience
- Experience in full-stack development with Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, and modern frameworks (React, Angular, Vue, etc.)
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Jenkins, Splunk, Jira, and Confluence
- Prior work experience performing architectural updates and troubleshooting within production systems
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued Secret security clearance
