Job Summary
Leading the technology vision for JSTOR's Business platform team, the full-time remote Principal Software Engineer will define backend architecture, mentor engineers, and drive innovation in complex initiatives related to books and royalty payments.
Key responsibilities
- Define and drive the multi-year backend technology strategy and architectural roadmap for the Books and royalty payment platforms
- Lead the architecture and evolution of backend platforms, ensuring high availability and performance of services and APIs
- Mentor engineers and technical leaders while fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning
Required qualifications
- 12+ years of experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems
- Deep expertise in backend architecture using Java or Python, with a strong understanding of cloud-native applications
- Proven experience in defining technology strategy and leading cross-team architectural initiatives
- Experience with service-oriented architectures, REST APIs, and event-driven systems
- Demonstrated ability to influence technical direction and communicate architectural strategy effectively
