Job Summary
Serving as a principal technical leader for enterprise Unix and Linux platforms, the full-time remote Principal IS Unix Architect will manage architecture, engineering, and lifecycle processes, ensuring resilient infrastructure for critical applications across both on-premises and cloud environments.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the architecture, engineering, and lifecycle management of Unix and Linux platforms, including strategy, deployment, and modernization
- Act as the technical owner for large-scale initiatives, driving decisions on platform standardization, scalability, and resilience
- Establish architectural standards and governance frameworks for operating-system builds and compliance, while advising senior leadership on technical options
Required qualifications:
- Doctorate degree with 2 years of relevant experience, or Master's degree with 4 years, or Bachelor's degree with 6 years, or Associate's degree with 10 years, or High school diploma/GED with 12 years of relevant experience
- Deep expertise in enterprise Linux architecture, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Ubuntu, and Amazon Linux
- Proven track record in designing and supporting large-scale Unix and Linux platforms in physical, virtualized, and cloud environments
- Advanced automation and scripting skills using tools such as Ansible, Python, and Shell/Bash
- Demonstrated proficiency in AWS, Azure, or GCP infrastructure and understanding of hybrid-cloud architecture
