Job Summary
Providing practical legal advice on U.S. and global privacy matters, the full-time, remote Privacy Counsel, NV Licensed will manage privacy compliance, data governance, and risk mitigation while partnering with various business teams to support Nielsen's privacy program.
Key responsibilities
- Advise on compliance with U.S. federal and state privacy laws, including CCPA/CPRA, and translate legal developments into actionable guidance
- Draft, review, and negotiate data processing agreements and related privacy provisions in commercial contracts
- Conduct privacy impact assessments and due diligence on third parties, identifying risks and recommending mitigations
Required qualifications
- 2 - 5 years of experience in privacy, data protection, or related legal work, preferably in-house or at a law firm
- J.D. or equivalent legal qualification and admission to at least one U.S. state bar
- Experience with U.S. state privacy regulations and conducting privacy risk assessments
- Demonstrated ability to draft and negotiate data processing agreements and privacy-related contract terms
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills, with the ability to communicate complex privacy requirements clearly
