Product Engineering Lead

Job Summary

Leading the API and frontend teams, the full-time Product Engineering Lead will oversee engineering practices, partner with product managers to translate vision into actionable tasks, and ensure high standards for performance and reliability while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Run the day-to-day operations of the API and frontend teams, ensuring they remain unblocked and productive
• Collaborate with product managers to convert vision and roadmap into scoped, buildable work while maintaining a high engineering bar
• Create clarity around team goals, mentor team leads, and lead by example to foster strong team dynamics and leadership growth

Required qualifications

• Experience managing engineers or engineering leads in consumer product development, preferably in chat, calling, or social applications
• Strong product sense with the ability to distinguish between effective and ineffective features
• Intuition for distributed and local-first systems, with familiarity in offline-first and eventual consistency concepts
• Proficiency in JavaScript and React
• Demonstrated initiative, curiosity, resilience, and capacity for direct critique
