Job Summary
To support independent healthcare providers, the full-time remote Profee Coder will be responsible for coding and abstracting diagnoses and charges from medical records to ensure optimal reimbursement and quality reporting.
Key responsibilities:
- Assign ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS codes for various specialty service accounts and abstract key data elements for billing and regulatory purposes
- Review medical records for documentation accuracy and communicate with providers to clarify details for proper coding
- Resolve claim edits related to emergency department encounters and assist with coding errors for outpatient visits as needed
Required qualifications:
- Credentials such as RHIT, RHIA, CEDC, COC, CPC, CCS-P, or CCS
- Three or more years of coding experience
- Thorough knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding systems and federal/state reimbursement regulations
- Experience working in a remote environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and Teams
