Program Associate for Grants

Job Summary

To support the growth of AI journalism, the full-time salaried Program Associate for Grants will evaluate funding opportunities, manage live grants, and contribute to strategic development while working remotely or from preferred locations in London, San Francisco, New York, or Washington D.C.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate funding opportunities by assessing teams' track records and recommending funding levels
• Identify and scope important AI journalism projects, sourcing proposals through various outreach methods
• Manage relationships with grantees, providing support and conducting check-ins post-grant approval

Required qualifications

• Experience in journalism or AI safety and governance, with a willingness to learn about the other
• Ability to analyze incomplete evidence and construct well-argued cases
• Strong writing skills, with a focus on clarity and honesty regarding knowledge gaps
• Comfort in building relationships with journalists and senior editors
• Commitment to the mission of supporting journalism that addresses AI advancements
