Job Summary
To support a growing grants program, the full-time Program Specialist, Reporting Grants will own and manage the reporting grants initiative, focusing on funding original journalism about AI while working remotely or from preferred US and UK locations.
Key responsibilities
- Own and run the reporting grants program end-to-end, including sourcing and funding original reporting
- Identify and facilitate funding for important AI journalism stories through various sourcing methods
- Manage relationships with Tarbell's external judging panel and ensure alignment with institutional grantmaking efforts
Required qualifications
- Experience in journalism, particularly in commissioning or editing
- Proven ability to redesign processes and manage grant rounds effectively
- Strong writing skills for drafting funding recommendations and public calls for pitches
- Understanding of impactful journalism and its relevance to AI
- Commitment to Tarbell's mission to support AI journalism
