Registration & Insurance Specialist

Job Summary

To support a world-class academic healthcare system, the full-time remote Registration & Insurance Specialist will conduct detailed reviews of patient insurance information, verify coverage, and manage billing activities while collaborating with clinical staff and managed care teams.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct complex registration and insurance reviews for out-of-network exceptions within established timeframes
• Initiate GAP exceptions and collaborate with managed care teams to secure necessary agreements
• Monitor work queues and follow up on accounts to ensure timely resolution and effective communication with patients and clinical teams

Required qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, with 3-5 years of related insurance experience and 2 years of patient account experience, preferably in a hospital setting
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Outlook
• Basic understanding of health insurance types and coverage verification processes
• Familiarity with EHR/EMR systems, such as Epic or Cerner
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical terminology
