Remote Coding Supervisor

Job Summary

Leading a remote coding team supporting Veterans Affairs medical centers, the full-time salaried Remote Coding Supervisor will manage coder quality and productivity, serve as the main contact for VA HIMS staff, and ensure timely and accurate coding for approximately 260,000 encounters annually.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary liaison for VA HIMS supervisors and coding leads, ensuring availability during business hours
• Assign work to coders, monitor turnaround times, and communicate any potential deadline risks to the VA
• Conduct quality reviews of coded data, provide feedback, and implement corrective action plans as necessary

Required qualifications

• An active RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, or CPC-H credential
• At least 3 years of coding experience with supervisory, lead, or QA experience
• Strong knowledge of inpatient and outpatient coding, including ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT
• Completion of an accredited coding, HIM, or health information technician program
• US citizenship and the ability to pass a federal background investigation and fingerprinting
