Remote External Operations Advisor

Job Summary

Working remotely, the part-time hourly Special Advisor for External Operations will assist the Athletics Director in preparing press releases, fostering media relationships, and creating social media content for VMI NCAA DI sports.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare press releases, game previews, and recaps while assisting in the publicity of VMI athletics
• Build relationships with media and coordinate written and photographic content for official platforms
• Assist in planning media events and collaborate with the External Operations unit on various tasks

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field preferred
• Understanding of NCAA rules and regulations
• Relevant undergraduate experience in professional or collegiate athletic communications required
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign and Photoshop
• Familiarity with social media management and NCAA Live Stats scoring software preferred but not required
