Remote HIM Coder with CCS

Job Summary

Working remotely on a part-time basis, the Remote HIM Coder with CCS will code and abstract hospital medical records, ensuring accuracy in diagnostic and procedural coding while collaborating with medical staff to clarify documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Accurately review and code medical records using ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT-4 guidelines
• Utilize federal and state regulations to verify and abstract required data into the computer system
• Participate in performance improvement activities and maintain department level competencies

Required qualifications

• Minimum of two years inpatient records coding experience or equivalent
• High School Diploma or GED required; knowledge of Anatomy & Physiology/Medical terminology is essential
• AHIMA Certification: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) required for all employees hired after 10/1/2025
• Experience with an electronic legal health record system preferred
• Ability to perform functions in a Microsoft Windows environment with high accuracy
