Research Director, AI Modeling

Job Summary

To develop quantitative models for AI Economics research, the full-time Research Director, AI Modeling will design and implement models, conduct empirical analysis, and collaborate with industry experts while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop models of complex systems, framing research questions and making assumptions explicit
• Build AI cost models and analyze how various factors affect total and unit costs over time
• Create forecasts and simulations that capture uncertainty, using sensitivity analysis to identify critical assumptions

Required qualifications

• Advanced quantitative training in mathematics, physics, statistics, operations research, or a related discipline
• Proven experience in developing and validating quantitative models of complex systems
• Strong programming skills in Python and experience with numerical libraries and structured data
• Current use of agentic AI tools for coding and analysis, with the ability to verify generated outputs
• Capacity to learn unfamiliar technical domains and effectively communicate model logic to non-experts
