Research Director, Water Innovation

Job Summary

Leading the research program for the National Alliance for Water Innovation (NAWI), the Research Director will manage a collaborative research portfolio focused on innovative water treatment technologies, with the potential for part-time or full-time arrangements, and may work remotely or onsite.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee NAWI's research portfolio in collaboration with Topic Area Leads and project leads
• Build strong relationships with researchers across various fields related to water technologies and regional systems
• Develop annual research budgets and manage resources responsibly within approved guidelines

Required qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years' experience in research, leadership, or related fields in water treatment technology or regional water planning
• Familiarity with a wide range of water treatment processes, regulatory policies, and global water resource trends
• Proven ability to collaborate with and lead diverse teams effectively
• Track record of responsible stewardship of federal and other funds
• Subject matter expertise in water industry, policy, planning, and technology commercialization preferred
