Job Summary
Conducting genetic research on the expansion of smallmouth bass in the Grand Canyon, the full-time salaried Research Scientist I will analyze genetic data, draft reports, and coordinate field trips while working remotely.
Key responsibilities:
- Process and verify research data on freshwater fish and analyze genetic data to understand reproductive success and population dynamics
- Draft reports or manuscripts based on genetic analyses and pre-existing data collected by stakeholders
- Hold meetings to update funders and stakeholders on research findings and assist in coordinating field trips
Required qualifications:
- Associate's Degree plus 7 years of relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of relevant experience
- Considerable experience in fish-related research, particularly with non-native species
- Experience with conservation genetics and analysis of genetic data
- Track record of publishing in peer-reviewed literature
- MS degree in fisheries or a related field is preferred
