Job Summary
Assisting with data collection for a research project on native seed-dispersing animals, the full-time Research Technician will capture and band wild jays, conduct behavioral observations, and support seed provisioning experiments in a remote setting.
Key responsibilities
- Capture, band, and measure wild California Scrub-jays using baited drop traps
- Conduct resighting and behavioral observations of color-banded birds
- Assist in setting up and collecting data for seed provisioning experiments
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a biological sciences field or equivalent experience
- 4 years of relevant experience with a High School diploma or GED, or 2 years with an Associate's Degree
- 3 months of experience collecting ornithological field data
- Valid U.S. driver's license
- Ability to work independently and hike in rugged terrain
