Same Day Surgery Coder

Job Summary

To support independent healthcare providers, the full-time Same Day Surgery Coder will review medical records for outpatient surgical procedures and assign appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes (CPT and ICD-10) to ensure accurate billing and reimbursement in a remote environment.

Key responsibilities:

• Apply coding classification standards and guidelines to medical record documentation for accurate coding
• Submit provider queries to resolve documentation discrepancies and perform quality assessments of records
• Abstract and assign appropriate ICD-10-CM and CPT codes for diagnoses and procedures in outpatient and surgical settings

Required qualifications:

• AHIMA/AAPC credentials
• At least five years of auditing experience
• Experience with physician surgery coding preferred
• Facility outpatient surgery and observation experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, and Teams
