SBA Underwriter

Job Summary

As a remote SBA Underwriter, the candidate will analyze and underwrite SBA loan applications for small and mid-size businesses, ensuring compliance with SBA guidelines while managing the underwriting process and serving as a liaison among stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze SBA loan applications and assess creditworthiness to structure compliant loan deals
• Prepare detailed credit approval requests and manage communication between credit administration, sales teams, and borrowers
• Identify and mitigate credit weaknesses while adhering to bank policies and regulatory requirements

Required qualifications

• 3-5 years of direct SBA underwriting experience with knowledge of SBA SOP and products
• Bachelor's degree in finance or equivalent education with formal credit training preferred
• Skilled in financial analysis, report interpretation, and loan structuring
• Strong understanding of financial products, services, and applicable regulations
• Ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels
