Search Core Systems Engineer

Job Summary

Joining the Search Core team as a full-time Member of Technical Staff, the Expert Systems Engineer will design and build core search engine components, focusing on indexing pipelines and data processing systems in a high-load environment, while working remotely or from locations such as Belgrade, Berlin, or London.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build core search engine components, including indexing pipelines and retrieval algorithms
• Develop streaming and batch data processing systems for search index construction
• Optimize hardware performance through low-level system tuning and tackle challenges in multithreading and concurrency

Required qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on experience in systems programming (Rust, C++, C, or similar)
• Strong knowledge of algorithms and data structures, with the ability to apply them effectively
• Experience with data processing systems (YT/Kafka/Hadoop)
• Solid understanding of Linux internals and low-level optimization techniques
• Passion for writing clean, efficient, and scalable systems-level code
