Seasonal Instrument Technician
Job Summary
To support scientific operations at McMurdo Station, the full-time Seasonal Instrument Technician will assist in the safe operation and maintenance of various laboratories, requiring deployment to Antarctica for 4-5 months during the Austral Summer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assists in planning and scheduling laboratory support for science projects
- Maintains inventory of spare parts and performs installations, calibrations, and emergency repairs on laboratory instruments
- Provides briefings on safe laboratory practices and interacts professionally with scientists and agency officials
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with 4 years of relevant experience or a Master's degree with 2 years of relevant experience
- Experience in a research environment providing support to scientific projects
- Must complete physical and dental examinations for deployment to Antarctica
- Willingness to deploy to Antarctica for approximately 4-5 months
- US citizenship or US Permanent Residency is required
