Job Summary
To enhance institutional readiness for AI-related incidents, the part-time contract Senior Advisor for AI Contingency Planning will develop contingency-planning approaches, translate technical risks into operational strategies, and engage with stakeholders to strengthen decision-making processes in a fully remote setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and support contingency-planning approaches for potential high-impact incidents involving advanced AI systems
- Translate emerging technical risks into practical preparedness, response, and escalation considerations
- Design and facilitate tabletop exercises and scenario-based discussions to enhance preparedness activities
Required Qualifications
- Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in International Relations, Public Policy, Emergency Management, or a related field
- At least 10 years of experience in contingency planning, crisis management, or national security planning
- Familiarity with artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, or AI safety
- Demonstrated experience developing plans for complex or high-consequence scenarios
- Experience with escalation processes and crisis decision-making
