Senior Application Support Engineer
Job Summary
To support Veterans Affairs operations, the full-time Senior Application/Infrastructure Support Engineer will perform high-level operational support for complex application cloud systems, develop solutions to technical problems, and ensure compliance with VA standards while working remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Perform day-to-day operational support and maintenance of cloud systems, including troubleshooting and resolving outages
- Document issues and communicate status updates to users and management while implementing continuous improvement methodologies
- Manage system assets, ensure security compliance, and provide user training and documentation as needed
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related field
- 8+ years of experience in systems engineering or a related field, particularly in production environments
- Experience with AWS and/or Azure Cloud services, including S3 and CloudWatch
- Strong proficiency in Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems, along with scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell
- Experience with automation tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef, and knowledge of CI/CD pipelines
