Senior Back-End Developer
Job Summary
To support the IRS Business Tax Account modernization initiative, the remote Senior Back-End Developer will design and develop secure, scalable server-side applications and APIs, collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance taxpayer-facing digital services.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of secure back-end services, RESTful APIs, and microservices for IRS digital platforms
- Implement best practices for cloud-native applications in AWS and Kubernetes, ensuring compliance with relevant security standards
- Collaborate with stakeholders to refine user stories and translate them into functional back-end features while supporting CI/CD processes
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in any field
- 6+ years of experience in software development, with at least 3 years in a developer role
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust background investigation
- Experience with tools such as Jenkins, Git, and SonarQube
- Familiarity with IRS cloud environments and federal cybersecurity standards (e.g., NIST 800-53, FISMA)
