Senior Backend Developer

Job Summary

Leading the architectural evolution of a core recommendations engine, the remote Senior Backend Developer will design and operate scalable backend services while ensuring production stability and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead the transition to a modern distributed architecture for the recommendations pipeline, ensuring incremental value and stability
• Design and implement scalable, fault-tolerant backend services for personalization features across various marketing functions
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and collaborate with ML engineers to translate requirements into technical designs

Required qualifications:

• 5+ years of software engineering experience focused on distributed systems
• Deep experience with large-scale distributed systems that are fault-tolerant and highly available
• Strong foundation in Python and experience with distributed data processing frameworks like Apache Spark
• Familiarity with cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Experience with modern technologies including Kubernetes, Kafka, and gRPC
