Senior Backend Engineer

Job Summary

To design, build, and scale core services for a healthcare platform, the full-time Senior Backend Engineer will work remotely, focusing on event-driven pipelines, EHR integrations, and backend infrastructure while ensuring high ownership from architecture through production.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate backend services and APIs using Node.js and TypeScript
• Architect and extend event-driven systems on Kafka, managing topic design and stream processing
• Own MongoDB data modeling and performance, including schema design and query optimization

Required qualifications

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience with senior-level ownership of production systems
• Expert-level proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript in production environments
• Hands-on experience with Kafka-based eventing architectures
• Deep MongoDB experience at scale, including performance tuning and indexing strategy
• A proven track record of building and scaling systems in high-growth or high-traffic companies
