Senior Backend Engineer

Job Summary

To support the development of a high-performance observability platform, the full-time Senior Backend Engineer will build key backend services and infrastructure, engage with the community, and tackle technical challenges in a remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Own and build backend services and infrastructure for the observability platform, ensuring reliable data pipelines and APIs
• Collaborate with open-source contributors and customers to solve challenges and incorporate feedback into backend architecture and API design
• Design and implement scalable backend systems for ingesting, processing, and querying large volumes of observability data

Required qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience focused on backend development, preferably in developer tools or infrastructure
• Strong skills in TypeScript and Node.js, with experience in frameworks like Express or Fastify
• Solid understanding of API design, distributed systems, and data modeling
• Familiarity with containerized environments, such as Docker and Kubernetes
• A passion for open source and experience in creating developer tooling
