Senior Backend Engineer

Job Summary

Driving the delivery of large backend features, the fully remote Senior Backend Engineer will own significant areas of the fuel logistics platform, ensuring reliability and performance while mentoring mid-level engineers and leading technical initiatives.

Key responsibilities:

• Drive delivery of large backend features end-to-end, breaking projects into manageable plans and accurately estimating work
• Lead technical design for complex features, evaluating trade-offs across performance, maintainability, and cost
• Debug and resolve production issues, quickly identifying root causes and driving recovery while enhancing monitoring and observability

Required qualifications:

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with production backend systems
• Deep expertise in backend stack components, particularly in Python, API design, and data modeling
• Proven track record of delivering large features end-to-end, including ownership of service reliability and performance
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills, with experience participating in on-call rotations
• Experience mentoring junior and mid-level engineers and providing high-quality code review feedback
