Senior Backend Engineer

Job Summary

Building and evolving backend infrastructure for podcast recommendations, the full-time Senior Backend Engineer will design scalable systems, improve data pipelines, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance personalized experiences for millions of listeners in a remote capacity.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and develop backend systems that support high-volume personalization and recommendation workloads
• Enhance infrastructure and pipelines for efficient retrieval, ranking, and delivery of personalized podcast content
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Engineers, and Data Scientists to create new recommendation experiences and define experimentation strategies

Required qualifications

• Experience building production systems with Java
• Knowledge of designing and operating distributed, high-volume services in production
• Experience working with stakeholders to design broadly adoptable APIs and systems
• Strong understanding of system design, data structures, and algorithms
• Familiarity with technologies such as gRPC, GCP, BigQuery, and Bigtable
