Senior Backend Engineer
Job Summary
Seeking a driven Senior Backend Engineer for a full-time remote position, who will design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs while collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance Tala's backend architecture and support new features and country launches.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services, APIs, and data integration layers
- Hold the engineering bar in code and design reviews, ensuring high-quality standards
- Define alerting, SLIs, and SLOs, and proactively improve monitoring of backend modules
Required Qualifications
- Fluency in English with clear written communication skills
- Hands-on experience with Java, Kotlin, and/or Scala, including web frameworks like Spring
- Proven track record of leading and delivering large-scale consumer applications on cloud infrastructure
- Expert knowledge of REST API design and development for mobile and web use
- Strong relational and non-relational database experience, including MySQL and Cassandra
