Senior Backend Engineer

Job Summary

Working remotely on a full-time basis, a Senior Backend (NodeJS) Engineer will design and build backend architecture for AI-powered automation systems, integrating LLM-based features and optimizing workflows to enhance patient-provider interactions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build backend architecture for AI-powered automation systems, focusing on performance, scalability, and resilience
• Integrate and scale LLM-based product features in collaboration with AI engineers and product teams
• Implement and evolve agent-based systems supporting complex decision-making flows and optimize Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines

Required qualifications

• 8+ years of commercial backend development experience with Node.js in product companies, preferably SaaS
• Strong experience in designing backend architectures and technical solutions, including scalability and maintainability considerations
• Proven track record of building scalable, high-performance backend systems and robust APIs
• Hands-on experience integrating LLMs into production systems with a focus on reliability and measurable quality improvements
• Practical experience with PostgreSQL and AWS services such as CDK, Lambda, and API Gateway
