Job Summary
Working remotely on a contract basis, the Senior Backend Operations Engineer will manage the operation and maintenance of high-volume backend services, triaging incidents, updating dependencies, and improving system reliability.
Key responsibilities
- Respond to and triage alerts for maintenance-mode services, escalating issues as necessary
- Keep services updated with dependency updates, security patches, and infrastructure upgrades
- Write and maintain runbooks and service documentation, ensuring the accuracy of the service catalog
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
- Hands-on experience with Java and/or Python backend services and Kubernetes
- Experience with major cloud providers, preferably GCP
- Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools such as PagerDuty, Grafana, and Prometheus/PromQL
- Proven ability to work asynchronously with distributed teams
