Senior Backend Software Engineer
Job Summary
Designing and operating high-performance trading systems, the full-time Senior Backend Software Engineer will build and maintain APIs for Coinbase's institutional spot exchange, collaborating with cross-functional teams in a remote-first environment.
Key responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain high-throughput, low-latency APIs and backend services for trading workflows
- Own services throughout their lifecycle, including design, implementation, deployment, and production support
- Enhance the performance and reliability of distributed systems while collaborating with various engineering teams
Required qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in building and operating production backend or distributed systems in Java, Go, or similar languages
- Proven expertise in designing and scaling high-volume, performance-sensitive services
- Experience with market connectivity protocols such as FIX and high-throughput messaging technologies
- Track record of building customer-facing APIs and operating services in cloud and Kubernetes environments
- Familiarity with relational databases like PostgreSQL and event-driven data systems
