Senior Backend Software Engineer
Job Summary
To support the Card Loan Platform team, the full-time remote Senior Backend Software Engineer will drive technical strategy, lead the design and development of high-availability services, and collaborate across functions to enhance the financial decision engine for Affirm's card products.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the planning, prioritization, and execution of projects to align with product, technical, and business goals
- Design and develop robust APIs and data models for micro-service and event-driven architectures
- Mentor junior engineers and champion best practices through technical discussions and code reviews
Required qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in software development with a strong understanding of system design and architecture
- Proficiency in modern programming languages such as Python or Kotlin
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Knowledge of database systems (SQL, NoSQL) and RESTful API development
- A Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience
