Senior Backend Software Engineer
Job Summary
To enhance Affirm's infrastructure, the remote Senior Backend Software Engineer will define and evolve workload safety standards for the company's EKS fleet, manage end-to-end standard ownership, and lead cross-team initiatives while mentoring other engineers.
Key responsibilities
- Define and evolve workload safety standards, including CPU and memory settings and workload isolation
- Own the lifecycle of each standard from research and onboarding to automation and compliance enforcement
- Lead technical initiatives across teams, ensuring high standards in design, code review, and operational readiness
Required qualifications
- 5+ years of experience running Kubernetes in production, preferably with Amazon EKS
- Deep understanding of Kubernetes resource management, scheduling, and pod lifecycle
- Experience enforcing configuration standards through admission control and policy-as-code
- Proficiency in Go or Python for building production infrastructure software
- Strong production debugging skills and experience leading technical initiatives across teams
