Job Summary
To support a pioneering technology company in AI safety, the full-time Senior Biology Specialist will evaluate complex biological escalations, mentor Junior Specialists, and produce high-fidelity labels for automated safety classifiers in a remote environment.
Key responsibilities
- Review and adjudicate high-severity biological cases across priority biosecurity risk vectors
- Apply advanced scientific reasoning to distinguish between legitimate research and actionable biological threats
- Perform quality assurance on casework by Junior Specialists and lead calibration sessions for consistency
Required qualifications
- Advanced Degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in Microbiology, Virology, Molecular Biology, or related discipline
- 5+ years of professional experience in biodefense, biosecurity policy, or BSL-3 laboratory operations
- Deep technical familiarity with high-consequence pathogens and toxin production pathways
- Proven ability to discern benign scientific inquiries from illicit activities
- Strong technical writing skills for summarizing complex microbiological mechanisms
