Job Summary
Owning major performance areas of Falcon, the full-time Senior Compiler Performance Engineer will analyze, design, and implement optimizations to enhance Java bytecode compilation, working remotely within a distributed team of compiler experts.
Key responsibilities
- Own performance for specific workloads or optimization areas, including analysis, design, implementation, and validation
- Design and implement new optimizations and improve existing ones in the middle end and back end
- Investigate complex performance issues and turn findings into compiler improvements while mentoring team engineers
Required qualifications
- 5+ years of professional experience developing optimizing or JIT compilers
- Strong C++ design and coding skills in large codebases
- Proven track record of delivering compiler optimizations with measurable performance impact
- Deep knowledge of compiler optimization theory and practical tradeoffs
- Strong performance analysis skills using profilers and hardware counters
