Senior Database Administrator
Job Summary
To support the Veterans Affairs department, the full-time Senior Database Administrator will install, configure, and upgrade database management systems while ensuring optimal performance and security in a remote work environment.
Key responsibilities
- Manage and optimize database performance, including tuning, query optimization, and regular maintenance tasks
- Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability
- Collaborate with IT staff to troubleshoot database-related issues and maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations and processes
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field
- 8+ years of professional experience in database administration, specifically with Oracle and SQL Server
- Proven expertise in database performance tuning, backup and recovery, and security management
- Strong knowledge of Oracle and SQL Server database architecture and management
- Experience with database monitoring and maintenance tools
