Senior Database Administrator
Job Summary
To support Veterans Affairs, the full-time Senior Database Administrator will manage and optimize database systems, perform backups and recovery, and ensure data security in a remote work environment.
Key responsibilities
- Install, configure, and upgrade database management systems while monitoring performance and implementing optimizations
- Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to protect data integrity and maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations
- Collaborate with IT staff and application developers to troubleshoot database issues and enforce security policies
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field
- 8+ years of experience in database administration, specifically with Oracle and SQL Server
- Proven expertise in database performance tuning, backup and recovery, and security management
- Strong knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL programming, including query optimization and indexing strategies
- Experience with database monitoring and maintenance tools, as well as compliance with industry standards and regulations
