Senior Database Administrator
Job Summary
To support the Veterans Affairs department, the full-time Senior Database Administrator will install, configure, and upgrade database management systems while managing database performance and security in a remote environment.
Key responsibilities
- Install, configure, and upgrade database management systems (DBMS) while monitoring and maintaining database performance
- Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability
- Collaborate with IT staff to troubleshoot database issues and maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations and processes
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field
- 8+ years of professional experience in database administration, particularly with Oracle and SQL Server
- Proven expertise in database performance tuning, backup and recovery, and security management
- Experience with database monitoring and maintenance tools
