Senior Database Administrator
Job Summary
To support the Veterans Affairs department, the full-time Senior Database Administrator will install, configure, and upgrade database management systems while managing database performance and security in a remote work environment.
Key responsibilities
- Install, configure, and upgrade database management systems (DBMS) and manage database objects
- Monitor and optimize database performance, including tuning and implementing backup and recovery strategies
- Collaborate with IT staff to resolve database-related issues and maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field
- 8+ years of professional experience in database administration, particularly with Oracle and SQL Server
- Proven expertise in database performance tuning, backup and recovery, and security management
- Strong knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL programming, along with experience in database design and architecture
- U.S. Citizenship required for this position
