Senior Database Architect

Job Summary

Combining deep expertise in legacy database systems with a forward-looking vision for AI-native data architecture, the full-time Senior Database Architect will modernize complex SQL Server environments and design innovative data infrastructures to support AI agents and workflows, all while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze and decompose large SQL Server stored procedures, creating migration strategies to extract business logic into domain services
• Design semantic data models and vector database solutions optimized for AI retrieval and reasoning
• Lead the establishment of canonical data models and event-driven data flows across multiple platforms

Required qualifications

• 8-12 years in database engineering and architecture, with significant experience in enterprise-scale SQL Server environments
• Hands-on modernization experience with complex stored procedures and multi-platform data architecture
• Deep SQL Server expertise including T-SQL optimization, stored procedure design, and performance tuning
• Experience with vector databases and RAG architecture, including embedding models and retrieval optimization
• Strong programming skills in at least one backend language (C#, Java, or Python) for building migration tooling and services
