Senior Database Engineer
Job Summary
Providing database administration services for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the full-time Senior Database Engineer will manage Oracle and MySQL databases on Linux/SunSolaris servers, ensuring optimal performance, security, and compliance with FAA specifications.
Key responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain database applications, including required patches and updates
- Monitor and optimize database performance, manage security, and ensure compliance with backup strategies
- Collaborate with development teams to provide customer support and impact information on proposed changes to database structures
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related IT field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in database administration
- Extensive experience with Oracle, MySQL, and SQL Server in enterprise environments
- Experience with AWS services, including EC2 and RDS, and familiarity with Database Lifecycle Management
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Suitability/Public Trust Background Clearance
