Senior Database Engineer
Job Summary
Owning a fleet of over 100 Postgres databases, the full-time Senior Database Engineer will ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability while collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance data models and maintain a fast, reliable platform in a remote environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the maintenance and performance of managed databases, identifying bottlenecks and recommending solutions
- Plan and execute database cost and capacity management, ensuring scalability for peak loads
- Collaborate with development teams to optimize complex database queries and migrations, serving as the database reviewer for design documentation
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Database Engineer with a focus on managing and optimizing databases
- 5+ years of experience writing SQL, specifically with PostgreSQL
- Proven ability to diagnose database performance issues and implement best practices
- Experience with managed cloud database infrastructure, preferably RDS
- Strong passion for data integrity and accessibility, with a commitment to building scalable solutions
