Senior Database Engineer

Job Summary

To enhance database performance and reliability, the full-time Senior Database Engineer will serve as the database expert on the Reliability team, focusing on optimizing distributed databases and collaborating with engineering teams remotely.

Key Responsibilities

• Investigate and resolve performance bottlenecks and reliability risks in the current database setup
• Provide guidance on database changes, including schema migrations and configuration adjustments, to engineering teams
• Develop and maintain operational practices for database management, including migration procedures and monitoring improvements

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience managing and optimizing production databases as a primary responsibility
• Deep hands-on experience with distributed databases and relational databases in business-critical environments
• Strong SQL skills with a proven track record of diagnosing inefficiencies and implementing improvements
• Ability to assess risks of database changes and communicate technical trade-offs to engineering teams
• Collaborative working style with a focus on mentoring and partnering across engineering disciplines
