Senior Database Reliability Engineer
Job Summary
Owning data resilience and continuity, the remote Senior Database Reliability Engineer will manage the durability, recoverability, and performance of the Postgres/RDS fleet while ensuring disaster recovery and database observability through automated processes and performance monitoring.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee the durability, recoverability, and performance of the Postgres/RDS fleet across all environments, including replication and failover
- Implement and validate disaster recovery processes, including timed failover drills and restore coverage for production databases
- Enhance database observability and develop AI-assisted tooling for health checks and schema migration reviews
Required qualifications
- Five or more years of experience managing production PostgreSQL at scale, preferably on RDS or Aurora
- Proven ownership of the full data lifecycle, including retention, backup, restore, and access control
- Concrete disaster recovery experience, including failovers designed and drills executed
- Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code (Terraform), scripting (Python, bash, SQL), and Linux
- Understanding of SRE principles, including SLOs and blameless postmortems
